Another attempt at Blogging....

I am not used to being so green at something....  I guess I should start off by telling you a little bit about myself.  I am in South Florida and teach a combined class of fourth grade gifted and high achieving students.  This is my 27th year (YIKES) teaching and I taught 4th grade for most of them.  The past 2 years I had third grade Gifted/High Achievers, but this year am moving back to fourth.  I like to give my students opportunities for discovery learning.  They do a lot of research and projects, both in class and at home.  In class, I usually assign group projects that involve the different learning styles so that everyone has a job to do that he or she enjoys.   I enjoy the challenge of teaching these students because I have to always keep them motivated to delve deeper and push themselves to reach new goals.  I would love to hear from other teachers, especially about projects and group management strategies.  :)

Personally, I am married and have a beautiful 22 year old daughter.  I am also the proud mom of 2 cats and grandma to 2 others....

I am new to this...

Hi,

I am Meryl and I teach 4th grade gifted/high achievers at Manatee Bay Elementary School in Weston, Florida.  I have never had a blog before, so I am going to learn as I go.  :)  I am excited to share and learn from others.  :)
